You don’t have to be Buster Olney in order to stay plugged into the MLB fantasy baseball scene. The fantasy baseball season is one of the most grueling things you can do but it is well worth it when you see your coveted MLB lineups get crowned with the championship. In order to stay ahead of the pack you are going to need to address the waiver wire at some point in time. Let’s turn to the Fantasy Alarm and make that happen!
Waiver Wire Wonders
The secret to nailing yourself the perfect waiver wire wonder is to pick a player with huge potential, a lot of opportunity, and low name recognition. These players are hard to find but they could end up fundamentally changing your entire season. Here are our top waiver wire wonders:
Kennys Vargas, DH – Minnesota Twins
When you look for a slugger on the waiver wire you want someone with opportunity, power, and low ownership. Kennys Vargas fits all three of those categories as he sits int he middle of the Minnesota Twins batting order. Vargas is a boom or bust hitter who could add 25 homers to your bottom line.
Rhys Hoskins, 1B – Philadelphia Phillies
With the trade deadline behind us and the Phillies continuing to play like garbage, Rhys Hoskins has a very real chance to hit the Major Leagues this year. Hoskins is one of our favorite power prospects in the minors and he has been raking at Triple-A. It is only a matter of time until Hoskins makes his way to the big leagues.
Ryan Schimpf, 2B – San Diego Padres
San Diego isn’t typically where you look for power but Schimpf has it in spades. Schimpf struggled to hit for average in his first run in the majors but he showed impressive power. Keep an eye on him for a late season call up.
